TIME has named Mark Eliot Zuckerberg, the C.E.O. of Facebook, as “Person of the Year”. Zuckerberg’s company, the magazine writes, “has merged with the social fabric of American life, and not just American but human life.”
Many critics of Time’s Person of the Year choice pointed out the fact that the votes on internet prefer Julian Assange, founder of information dissemination site WikiLeaks as Person of the year. Without a doubt, Assange further the international dialogues and debates about free speech, transparency and security.
TIME uphold that “everyone” has a Facebook account. Then, for connecting more than half a billion people and develop the social relations among them, for creating a new system to exchange information, and for changing how people live, Zuckerberg is the “Person of the Year”.
